Children Overboard… Again
Australia - 16/08/2004
The Children Overboard drama surfaces once again – 3 years after it originally surfaced – just before a federal election… again.
Do we really care? NO! It’s in the past… it’s been dealt with… it’s been and gone. Time to get over it and move on!
Seriously though, the PM was told children were thrown overboard. The video was provided after this information was given. Mr Scrafton tells the PM that the video is "inconclusive". What does "inconclusive" mean? According to Merriam-Webster’s Online Dictionary, it means "leading to no conclusion or definite result." The video failed to indicate whether children were or were not thrown overboard. So what’s the PM to do? Simple! Go by the information he had previously been given.
Documentation on the video including the advice that it was "inconclusive" was provided to the senate inquiry. The information is therefore not new. So why is it surfacing now – just before the federal election? GOOD QUESTION!!
