Does Google Street View Invade my Privacy?
Australia - 10/08/2008
Google Street View has hit Australia. News reports hype the privacy concerns, displaying long-since removed pictures from the original US release to rile the privacy advocates into making statements denouncing such an intrusive service.
But does Google Street View really invade my privacy? It means that anyone could see what my house looks like! Of course, first they’d need to know where I live. And if they knew that, they could just drive past anyway.
Google Street View shows nothing that you couldn’t see by jumping in your car and driving around the streets. What’s the concern?
Since the original US release, faces have been blurred – leaving no permanent identifiable photos. It’s actually a shame because it’d be kinda cool to be on Google Street View!
Here’s my house. Nothing intrusive. Lawn needs mowing, but that’s about it.
