Beheadings of hostages / Prisoner abuse
International - 20/06/2004
The recent news of another beheading once again shocked the decent people of the world. It is difficult to believe the barbaric nature of these people. They are no more than savage animals.
But what of the American torture of Iraqi prisoners of war? To me this is equally as barbaric. The prisoners may not have been murdered, but they will have to live with the torment for the rest of their lives. At times, these people may wish that they WERE killed - rather than humiliated in the way that they were.
I think this only proves that the "true enemy" is not al Qaeda, nor Iraq - nor even terrorism. The true enemy is conflict. If people could live in harmony with each other, without conflict, there would be no need for war or aggression. Is such an idea really that difficult to achieve?
