Stupid People 1
General - 12/09/2005
We heard over the weekend about another person killed after being struck by a train while crossing the tracks by means other than an authorised crossing – the second in about a month.
The tracks are fenced. The signs at the station make it clear that people shouldn’t be crossing except at authorised crossings. There are even fines imposed on those caught crossing the tracks.
Why is it that a few people insist on crossing the tracks despite the risk of being struck or copping a fine?
Because they’re stupid!!

I headed out the other night to pick up a friend from the train station. I rounded the bend to find two people walking along the side of the road. Being dark, if they’d been closer to the corner, I may have struck them as I wouldn’t have seen them and I tend to hug that particular corner.
These people were wearing dark coloured clothing, were walking two-abreast beside a footpath with a perfectly good concrete path that was wide enough for both of them. Why did they choose to walk on the road?
Because they’re stupid!!
