I'm dreaming of a white HOT Christmas

A TV network has started broadcasting their Christmas jingle – complete with performances from some well-known faces from some of their shows. They have taken the tune from Wet Wet Wet’s "Love is all Around" (made popular by "Four Weddings and a Funeral") and added their own lyrics.
By choosing their own lyrics, they can say what they want to say – and make it appropriate for their target audience. But the last line of the jingle is, "Come on and let it snow." There’s fake snow in the background.
I understand that with a lot of carols, other music and movies, we get hit with the "white Christmas" thing a lot. We can accept it because they come from places where it snows at Christmas time.
But why – when they can tailor a song – do they choose to include "snow", when it has absolutely nothing to do with an Australian Christmas! The Australian Christmas is characterised by boiling hot days and swimming at the beach or in pools. It’s about water fights to keep cool. The only cold things we see come straight out of the refrigerator or esky.
I think this is Americanisation gone a bit too far!
